The night visitors…

Again the demons called last night
To plunge me into depths of fright
I reach for spray and balm-filled spoon
Their benefit ripped away too soon.
And all the agonies of my life
Roll before my eyes as strife
Until a wreck, I finally sleep
She who loves me will quietly weep.
As there beside me yet again
She helps to fight what is no friend
And when I wake she soothes my brow
To bring me back to here and now.
Yet pain is etched on her sweet face
I’m once more smitten by her grace.

The demon’s touch…

Would that I could spare you pain
You feel the demon’s touch again
I’ll wrap you in my loving heart
Where demons can’t wrench us apart.
And as you lie in sleep’s repose
Protect you, I, against all those
Who bring such wicked dreams to you
I’ll take my sword and them pursue.

With honour pure and blade so true
I’ll drive those demons out from you
And peace and such serenity
Will be returned to you and me.

Would that life could ever be
As straightforward as poetry.

When demons call…

And in the night when demons call
You hide inside your troubled mind
And hope you’ll not be found in thrall
By evil devils who are so unkind.

They seek you out to make you pay
For all the bad that you have done
The demons call most every day
Their endless war that can’t be won.

Till in the end they send you mad
A life can not be lived like this
And take your life you will, it’s sad
In your last breath, eternal bliss!
