It can be mended…

Would that I could lift a heart
That’s fallen to the floor
That I could love and cherish it
For now and evermore.

Would that I could do that small thing
Before my frail heart breaks
Please let me do that caring thing
In love for both our sakes.

No words you need to utter here
Yet silent you’re torn apart
So I will bend and pick it up
And mend your broken heart.

We fall despite ourselves…

He never knew he’d fallen in love
Love was always for others he thought
Thought he liked a very nice girl once
Once even asking her out sometime
Sometime sadly, it never came.

Came the realisation crashing in on him
Him feeling a fool for showing he cared
Cared enough he realised one time
Time that was precious and slipping away
Away from him daily as lonely he stayed.

Stayed on that shelf that singles inhabit
Inhabit the space where lonely sets in
In to his soul and all through his actions
Actions that he always had in control
Control his watchword but for one time…then.

Then something happened that changed him forever
Forever, for he met the one in his dreams
Dreams you can never believe in the real world
World is a place though where strange things are true
True they became…when I met with you.

On happenstance…

In wandering through life’s happenstance
I chanc’ed upon thee
‘Twas such a stroke of wondrous glee
Did hearts collide, I took the chance.
I loved you from that long first glance
For all ’twas plain to see
That you did feel the same for me
And thus began our life’s romance.

Though anguish walks along in stride
Our join’ed hearts did all defeat
And though these harsh times oft repeat
Their vilest aims stay yet denied
In laughter we recall the treat
Of joyful times spent side by side.
